Accessible Instruments make innovative musical instruments for people living with dementia.

All the instruments are made from wood. This hides the complexity of technology being used and makes the instruments as tactile, approachable and as fun to use as possible.



The team use the instruments to run workshops underpinned by research in music, engineering and cognitive science. By creating group compositions, the participants are helped to reconnect with themselves and with those around them.

The logo is made from a tree (for the wood), and a musical note (for the music), telling the story of Accessible Instruments in a single icon.

By using the logo as a repeated pattern or as notes in a musical score, we can create a forest of sound.
