Yoko Ono
In reference to I Would Rather Be.
Yoko Ono is an artist. Her work often invites the viewer to actively participate and complete it: sometimes physically and sometimes taking the form of prompts and event scores, which are realised only in the viewer’s mind. I find her work spacious, peaceful, playful and emotional. Yoko is perhaps best known for a collection of published instructional pieces called ‘Grapefruit’. My favourite of these event scores is called Pea Piece. It goes like this:
Pea Piece
Carry a bag of peas.
Leave a pea wherever you go.
Winter 1960.
